Rituals sensational soft cleanserBeing on holidays and trying to find quality skincare products to suit your skin and especially face cleansers can be rather difficult and at times disappointing.

Looking for a natural gel cleanser to combine it with my Pai cleanser was the case for me during this Summer holiday, and that´s how I got to find Rituals Sensational Soft Cleanser.

The truth is that I had never heard about Ritual Cosmetics up until that time and after a bit of search, I found out, if I am not mistaken, that this is a half American and half Dutch company which creates advanced botanical skin care products that are made in Germany! Did I confuse you?

Well.. I am a bit confused myself but that doesn´t make any difference. So, let´s go on to the actual product review.

By looking at the ingredients of this cleanser, I was not personally totally satisfied with the full list since the product contains fragrance and phenoxyethanol, a controversial preservative widely used in cosmetics today. Still, it seemed to be a much better choice than other cleansers available at the time.

So, this is a soap free thickish gel cleanser which works very gently on the skin and without causing any irritation, at least in my case. The fragrance is very light and pleasant but not what you could call refreshing.

The strange thing with this cleanser, which I have experienced with a skin exfoliator I regularly use, but maybe not many people are so acquainted with, is that you need to apply it on dry skin.

So, the way this sensitive cleanser works is by applying on dry skin, massaging using your fingers or even a muslin cloth if you prefer, and then rinsing with lukewarm water.

On the product’s tube, it is suggested that Rituals sensational soft cleanser is suitable for all skin types but in their official site and at Amazon it is recommended that it is best for sensitive and dry types of skin.

I would tend to agree with the second recommendation because of the cleanser´s gentle function, ingredients as well as thickish gel texture.

Although it does not seem to be able to balance oily or combination skin, it may be used to calm and smooth skin if you are ok with its texture. Still, I would not recommend it for oily or combination types of skin.

If you are allergic to fragrances and you don´t want any unpleasant surprises, I will also remind you here that this is not a fragrance free cleanser.

The quantity is quite enough (125 ml) and since you will only need to use a little, it can last you for a few months of using it once a day. It is also contained in a squeeze tube that is very convenient.

Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, glycerin, water, sucrose laurate, sucrose palmitate, panthenol, aloe vera leaf juice, sunflower seed oil, poria cocos extract, phragmites kharka extract, sucrose stearate, tocopherol, citric acid, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, fragrance.

My Take

Rituals Sensational Soft CleanserIn conclusion, that was my short review of Rituals Sensational Soft Cleanser. Overall, this seems to be a quality cleanser which works gentle on the skin to cleanse, calm and soften it.

After using it for some time during my holidays, I can say that it has neither irritated nor caused any dryness in my skin.

It is very gentle but without this refreshing essence that I would personally like from a gel cleanser.

The fact that it has a bit thickish texture and has to be applied on dry skin might feel rather uncomfortable for some users but this is also a very positive feature for the times that you want to finish with your face cleansing as soon as possible since this cleanser does not require wetting your face before application, which actually saves you some time and effort.
