Avocado is one of my favorite natural foods and perfect for homemade masks for skin and hair especially when dryness appears and we need some nourishment.

Avocado oil can also be very nourishing but if you just have some fresh avocados you can try out one or two homemade recipes which can prove to be very beneficial and helpful.

Avocado is rich in vitamins and other nutrients such as potassium, folic acid and lutein. A, B, C and E vitamins give avocado its moisturizing and healing properties.

Avocado oil can also be used for sun protection and has the ability to penetrate the skin deep and make it overall softer and better conditioned.

Moisturizing Avocado Mask for Normal to Dry Types of Skin

This is the simplest one ingredient mask you will ever make for which you will only need a ripe avocado. Just mash it to get a nice smooth paste and apply it on your face and neck, leaving it on for 15 minutes. Then, rinse off with warm water.

Plain avocado paste will make your skin feel smoother, softer and more nourished. A nice sensation from just a one ingredient facial mask don’t you think?

Moisturizing Avocado Face Mask for Dry to Very Dry Types of Skin

For this recipe you will need half an avocado and 1/4 cup of honey or manuka honey if you have. Mash the soft avocado and add the honey. Mix the ingredients well till you get a fine paste which you can now use for the facial and neck area.

Let the mask on for 15 minutes and remove it with warm water. A good way is to soak a muslin cloth in warm water which you will squeeze and then use it to remove the mask more thoroughly while also giving your skin a soft massage.

Avocado Face Mask for Dry and Sensitive Skin Types

In this recipe, you can use almond oil or some other natural oil you may have like argan oil, grape seed oil or whichever other natural oil you keep for your skin needs.

Almond oil is a very gentle and conditioning oil perfect for all types of skin including sensitive skin. Whenever I have some kind of irritation or reaction on my skin, almond oil has been very helpful to get rid of it and keep my complexion nicely moisturized.

So, all you have to do is mix one avocado with 3 to 4 drops of almond oil until you have a nice mixture which you can use for face and neck application. Leave this mask for 30 minutes on your skin and then rinse off with some warm water.

After rinsing off, I love spraying my face with some thermal water to freshen it up and boost hydration or a good quality organic toner. You will see that you will love the feeling, too.

Avocado Homemade Hair Care Mask

Since our hair can become dry the same as our skin, avocado can be very beneficial and useful to combat hair dryness in a natural way and make it softer and better protected against all hair deteriorating factors like extreme weather conditions, dyes or hair dryer’s frequent use.

What you will need for this easy natural hair mask is:

  • Half an avocado
  • 2 t/p of beer
  • 1 t/p of Daphne oil
  • 1 t/p of olive oil

Use a mixer to perfectly mix all ingredients together and get a creamy texture. Apply the mask on your hair half an hour before shampooing and cover it with a warm towel. After rinsing the mask off, you can now shampoo your hair.

This mask will give you softer, better hydrated and more nourished hair. Back to my childhood, I remember that our mother would sometimes rub this Daphne oil in our hair, cover our head it with a towel and keep it on for some minutes before shampooing.

It was one of those granny recipes inherited from one generation to another, giving great homemade beauty solutions.
